Hi friend, and welcome back! Today, I want to talk about manifestation, also known as deliberate creation, magnetic creation, or the law of attraction.
Understanding Manifestation
The name of this podcast is Magnetic Creator, which is all about giving you tools to create a life filled with abundance, freedom, and joy. This title implies that YOU are a powerful creator, attracting things to you all the time—people, experiences, ideas, and all kinds of stuff. Now, I know this might sound really fucking woo-woo to a lot of you, but stick with me. Remember, I’m equal parts woo-woo, neuroscience, and strategy.
Common Misconceptions
There are a lot of teachers and influencers who say, “Just think positive thoughts, or imagine what you want, and it will come to you.” I don’t agree with that shit. I’ve been studying creation and manifestation techniques for over 30 years. I’ve manifested some amazing things and also some not-so-nice things. Every time I’ve created something, I’ve used a very specific, almost scientific method, which I’ll teach in my manifestation course.
What Manifestation Really Is
Manifestation, or deliberate creation, is about understanding that you are a powerful creator with the ability to mold and shape your life. It’s about using that power and knowledge to create a life you don’t want to escape from.
The Impact of Technology
We’re in a really interesting time in history. As a Gen X woman, I know life before the internet and smartphones. The last 20 years of technology have given us amazing things but also created a constant low-grade anxiety. We’re always on edge, waiting for our phones to ping, ring, or chime. This alertness creates anxiety in our brains, and for some of us, it’s high-level anxiety.
I’m very sensitive to this constant connectivity. It had me frazzled and stressed all the time until I did a digital detox and got off all electronics for six full weeks. That changed my life. If you’re interested in hearing more about that, head over to episode 4 where I go deep into the digital detox. I’ll link it in the show notes.
Escaping vs. Creating
Technology often becomes a means of escaping our lives. Many women I chat with spend hours daily scrolling through mindless reels on TikTok or Instagram instead of working on creating a life they actually want. This constant connectivity shortens our attention spans, making it harder to focus on one thing for a long time. But holding our attention firmly on the desired outcome is crucial for manifesting. When you get skilled at it, it’s really fun.
My Recent Manifestation
Let me share my most recent fun manifestation. In January, we closed on a 4-acre piece of land in Belize next to our current home. This was the piece of property my husband and I wanted from the beginning because it’s on the edge of the jungle, and we wanted to conserve it for wildlife. The owner said it wasn’t for sale and never would be. But I ignored that and every night for over a year, I did my specific, sensory process that I teach in my class.
Even though I had never been on the land, I visualized unlocking the gate, walking through the land, down to the creek, and stepping into the water. Then one day in December, we got a call asking if we wanted the property, offered at a hugely reduced price. Walking on that property, knowing I had done it hundreds of times in my mind, felt amazing.
The Importance of Deliberate Creation
While manifesting things like that piece of land is fun, the most important kind of deliberate creation is getting out of our own way and creating a life we don’t want to escape from. It’s about creating new patterns that support the life we dream of.
Creating by Default
I recently talked to someone who wanted to manifest more “abundance.” When we chatted more, she talked about her bills, debt, and how she couldn’t afford a house. She had an abundance, just an abundance of what she DIDN’T want. When I asked her to describe what it would feel like to create what she did want, it was hard for her to envision because she was so patterned and used to thinking about her current situation.
She was creating by default, over and over. This is common. We focus on what we see in front of us and create more of it. We create more bills, debt, and dissatisfaction with our relationships.
Manifesting a Life You Love
Manifesting isn’t just about “getting shit”—it’s about being creative and dreaming big. It’s about focusing on what we want to create, how we want to show up in the world, and experiencing this one beautiful life we have. It’s about creating new patterns that support us in building a life we love, getting out of our own way, and stopping those default patterns of self-sabotage.
Final Thoughts
Remember, we’re creating all the time, usually by default. But it’s easy and fun to shift from default to deliberate creation, focusing our attention and energy on what we truly want. If you have any questions about this—if you’ve heard about manifestation or done things like a vision board, and you have questions about it—let me know. I’d love to chat with you.
